IRMA is counting in the Middle East

Since mid-year, iris GmbH and its Israeli Partner ISR have been equipping 500 vehicles from Israel's Egged bus company with IRMA basic. The project involves urban and interurban two- and three-door buses manufactured by MAN, DAF, Mercedes and Volvo. With more than one million daily passengers, Egged is the largest public transport operator in Israel, as well as one of the largest public transport companies in the world.

The installation is being carried out independently by the customer's technicians, who have successfully received training from iris GmbH employees, and should be completed by the end of this year. After the work is finished, 1/6th of the company's 3,105 vehicles (as at 07/2008) will be equipped with IRMA and thus ensure that an optimized schedule can be developed on the basis of the ridership data collected.
