Trafikanten Oslo, the mass transit authority providing service to the greater Oslo area, continues to depend on IRMA passenger counting systems.
The Norwegian capital's urban transit company, which first began equipping its vehicles with IRMA ADVANCED passenger counting systems in 2004, has significantly expanded installations over the past fiscal year. A total of 284 Oslo buses from a wide variety of manufacturers (EvoBus, MAN, Solaris and VOLVO), along with 19 trams, were equipped with IRMA passenger counting systems, and additional vehicles with counters are planned for 2008.
The fact that the system is being continually expanded speaks not only for customer satisfaction with the counting devices deployed but also for the value of automatic collection of ridership data to the Oslo transit authority.
