IRMA ADVANCED is a passenger counting system for more advanced requirements: Using a unique combination of active and passive IR detection in a single high-tech sensor ensures that the IRMA advanced passenger counting system provides great counting accuracy and reliability in all operating environments and over prolonged periods of time.
For this purpose, IRMA ADVANCED combines both of the most successful detection methods currently available, supplementing and controlling each other:

  1. An active IR detector permanently sends out IR light pulses, which are reflected by passengers and registered by the sensor
  2. In addition, a high-sensitivity and high-resolution pyroelectric detection chip is used to detect thermal radiation emanating from persons.

Both systems combined gather a multitude of signals allowing precise pattern recognition. IRMA advanced stands for accurate counting results over many years: the guaranteed raw data accuracy is at least 95%. IRMA advanced is therefore specifically suited to such applications as statistical revenue control and revenue distribution or the determination and control of transit system performance (person-kilometers, PKM).
